11th Moravia High Jump Tour

It seems that all jumpers coming to Hustopeče on 24th January are ready and at their best, considering their latest achievements. The Italian record holder Marco Fassinotti cleared 232 cm on Saturday and moved to the top of the world’s record list. After his successful jump he even tried the 235 cm bar. However, the height he could not jump in Birmingham he could very well attack in Hustopeče. Another Italian high jumper, Silvano Chesani, jumped the 228 cm bar in Padova and aimed at 232 cm. And on Friday (today), Ivan Ukhov opened the season with 230 cm, but did not raise. 2013 World Champion Svetlana Shkolinova came back flying after being out for the season of 2014 and cleared the height of the year at 195 cm and even tackled the two-meter bar. This could mean that the 200 cm high jump record in Hustopeče set by a German jumper Friedrich in 2009 could very well be beaten this Saturday.

The newest addition to the women category is a Lithuanian jumper Airine Palyte. She holds the national records, both indoor and outdoor, 197 cm and 198 cm respectively. She is a finalist from 2012 London Olympic Games, 2013 World Championship, and 2014 European Championship.

To make things more interesting, Muamer Aissa Barshim (21 yrs.) will also start, his PB is 228 cm. He is the younger brother of the Indoor World Champion Mutaz Barshim.
